i need to find a good hardwood supply around oxfordshire have tried good timber at nether heyford northants they do have a price list on there website.not to sure about there prices as i cannot workout cubic feet :  any ideas

Two problems there,
one cubic foot = one board 12' long x 1' wide x 1" thick or 12 square feet of 1" thick wood.

I'm in Oxfordshire and get some of my wood from Timbmet, but they do have a minimum order size so may be no good to you unless you can persuade "some one" with an account to add your order to their next delivery! you can't select though.

Good Lord...thanks Benchwayze.. I had no idea that was nearby.

Splendid - I'll call them tomorrow. I've found a few websites to be wishful thinking from the suppliers I've contacted lately.

I can recommend the very nice Gents at Ragley Saw Mill for green Oak & Larch.

Noted Tos. Appreciated.
Good Luck. (I think the last guy I dealt with was called Ben. I wanted SYP.)

+1 for Sykes. They are not the cheapest, but every plank I've had from them has been very useable, so very little waste. Their delivery costs are expensive though!

Re: Oxford. Do Blenheim Sawmills not do hardwoods? I used them for fencing supplies when I lived amongst the dreaming spires, worth an ask?!

It must be dependant upon where one lives. I was going to roof-rack the stuff home, as I usually do for medium amounts. However, the guy said no need. Delivery is free! Considering they also picked the timber for me, I was not disappointed. With petrol costs these days, I would probably be better off even if I did pay for delivery! :D

I paid £90 delivery the last two times I ordered. It was for £1000 worth of oak, so thought they might help me out a bit.

I am about 100 miles from Atherstone.

Their timber is very good though. Going to try Associated Timber next time as they are much nearer.
