Hand sanding, using 6" circular discs?

I've seen youtubers using a hand 'pad' / block with normal round discs?
Anyone any experience with these please?
UK ideally.
No prob. I often do it have a lot of discs left over from a big project and use them with a cork block.

There's a guy I watch on YouTube that uses 150mm hook & loop sandpaper discs but I think he uses them on a type of velcro glove that holds them in place...!?

Yes, but round, to take orbital sander disks?
Normal 4" block doesn't need to be round you just bend it up like a quarter sheet. In any case the full 6" diameter footprint would be a bit big for hand sanding.

Peter Millard just uses an old platten/pad from his sander. After a lot of use the hook and loop backing starts to throw discs off at machine speed, but is still grippy enough to use by hand.

I kept the platten/pad from a broken black and decker 125mm random orbital sander, really handy for delicate finish sanding and obviously uses the same paper as my new sander.
Obviously can't get into corners with it but that's where scraps of MDF and double sided tape come in handy!
