Anyone here own the Hammond N4400 bandsaw?

If you do own above what is your opinion of cutting mitres for box corners at a high quality finish that needs no further attention. (Like I do with a tablesaw and jig)

Ian, are blades good enough to do that sort of work?

I am seriously thinking again about changing over to a bandsaw in my older age.

Oh and btw are the tables of a none rust material? or are they C.I.?

I've seen one in use and it looks like a very very nice saw. The tables are standard Cast Iron. Its a very big machine.

Hi Devonwoody,

I have recently purchased a N4400. As Chems said,it has a Cast iron table and is a big machine.
Plenty of grunt with a 4HP motor as well. Can't answer your question re the mitre cutting as I have had no call to do this.
What I can say is,it has performed admirably in what I have thrown at it so far,and it is well built.
One thing you should consider if you decide to buy one,is to buy the wheel kit that Hammer offer.
Also I have not used the blades that came with it,went staight onto Ian's blades at Tuffsaw.

I have owned one of these for a few years now and they are very good. In my case I have a few minor niggles in that one of the wheels is slightly out of balance, leading to an annoying vibration and the mitre fence is poor. Both of these matters are relatively easy to rectify and the base machine is sound and good value.

I'm not sure about mitres straight from the saw. The finish is not normally as good as a table saw.

Before parting with your money get in touch with Scott and Sargent/machines4wood ,these guys sell very good machinery and will put you on the right lines .

The Hammer looks remarkably similar to my Record BS500. In terms of setup, I couldn't even guess about comparable performance.
