I'm looking for a post on a home built grinder toolrest. I've searched the site but haven't found the one I want. It stretched across both wheels based on what looked like two large dowels, one swinging on a quadrant. I could draw one up myself but if it's been done already it would be helpful.

I made one in timber, based on the one detailed in Leonard Lee's book on Sharpening.

I'll take some photos tomorrow if I get the chance?

It's quite simple but effective.
Made from odd scraps of wood. The base (old kitchen door) has a groove which the rest can slide backwards and forwards. The top rest has a drilled out hole/grove for adjusting the angle.
M8 bolts with wing nuts for clamping.

Can also cut a slot to hold a clamping jig as the Veritas one, but I use this freehand grinding to marked lines on the tool/blade.

Actually cannot find this in LL's book so must have got the idea somewhere else?

Rod that design is often accredited to Keith Rowley.

Simple, effective and perfect!

I want one...probably this week...

If this carries on I will have plenty to keep me occupied this summer!

Cheers for the inspiration Shultzy/Rod
