Needed a new sds drill bit to drill tons of holes in bricks, went to screwfix they had these on display.
bosch multipurpose drill bits, looked too good to be true.

well £4.99 later I can now drill holes in bricks like a butter With just my 18v small makita drill, no more heavy sds drill to carry around for small plug holes, put it in hammer mode and it's as fast as sds but 10x less noisy and 10x less weight to carry around. =D> have done over 300 holes in brick in the past couple of days with just 1 bit and it's still as sharp as new.

Thanks for the tip, I need to get some masonry bits so will give these a try. The reviews on screwfix are certainly positive.

The screwfix review section is one of the reasons I often go to their website.

Blimey. I didn't know screwfix were in Finland as well. I thought they were a UK brand. Anyway I have those same drills and they are very good for general purpose drilling around the house. Won't give a terribly clean hole in timber but great putting holes in brick and block work. If I recall correctly they did struggle with the odd lintel though so don't throw the SDS away just yet!

Ah this is good to read. I bought some of these in Screwfix last week. They were a deal on the counter and I was aware of them and thought they might be handy as they do all materials, good to hear a positive review. Tried them on wood yet?

Yes I've smoked one of those Bosch bits drilling into a lintel before.

used them on fixing some timber battens to wall and they did the job, but that's the only time I would use them on wood as they leave nasty looking holes, only good for places where you won't see them.

Yes, they go through timber but it is pretty brutal, better with hammer on.
