Got my new axminster catalogue but have a question

If you are ripping with a short fence (as one is supposed to do) then the work is guided both by the fence and also the riving knife. As the plate for a 1.7mm kerf blade is likely to be somewhere around 1 or 1,2 mm, a knife of ~ this thickness does not seem man enogh to control the passage of the timber unless it is very, very, thin. It does not seem very appropriate to use a blade that thin on a table saw for ripping. Surely intended for portable tools or low powered mitre saws? A blade that thin would also be prone to flex and grain follow - could be interesting with its corresponding thinny riving knife???

Came across this device but not suitable for the blade mentioned above.

However in the Axminster catalogue the 1.7mm kerf blade is still recommended for a Tablesaw and less stress on the electric motor.
But a splitter of around 1.3mm seems too weak unless we are talking perhaps timber under 25mm thick.

Why not just stick with a standard kerf blade?
Seems to be the easiest option to me...

It was a question of choice at Axminster, Perform or CMT, the other CMT blade didnt have anti kickback.
