I'm not talking about measuring anything, by "draw" I meant "draw a diagram of". This is how to get to the equation to save the bother of remembering it.

Apols - since sunnybob insists on not understanding algebra or basic geometry, I though you were giving him a purely mechanical method.

Understanding, is not unfortunately the same as calculating.

Sorry Bob I should have specified a commercial bokken. I realise your problem is long solved so I'll add the following for anyone who might want to make one in the future.

All this geometry talk has been fascinating and entertaining but it's of limited applicability to the problem because many bokken, just like the katana they're modelled on, don't have a uniform sori or curvature. Very basic guide to sori for anyone interested.

I always find its best to start from a point of complete ignorance and learn as i go.
