Garden play house/shed

Hi all,
This is my first post on the site so sorry if this has already been asked. I'm currently building a play house/ shed in the garden, 11ft/ 6ft. I've build a brick base 2 corses high and have laid a wood floor with 2"x5" joists and 18mm ply. I'm going to build the shed with a timber frame and clad the outside with Weatherboard style cladding. I want to put some breather membrane under the cladding. The way I was going to do it was put the membrane onto the shed frame then batten then cladding, but I have seen a lot of post where people put chipboard or ply on the frame then the membrane then batten and cladding. Does it matter which way you do it?

Ply or osb screwed to studwork, then battens then cladding is generally the method for the outer part of timber framing for houses or, in the case of this site workshops

Of course sheds just have cladding nailed straight to the studwork, sometimes with a membrane such as building paper.

If you want a nice strong construction its worth using a layer of osb or ply, in which case you then should use a breather and battens for airflow behind the cladding and insect mesh at the bottom. If you arent using any boards the breather membrane will then show up on the interior. Since it is open to the inside the membrane is acting as a rain and wind barrier not as a breather.

I wanted to put insulation in walls and plasterboard the inside so my daughter could play in the winter. Put son or ply on first is properly the better idea?

If children are involved you'd be better using OSB than plasterboard which is bound to end up with holes in it. damhikt
