Hi Folks

We're just about to start the footings on our kitchen build and I'm doing a little research on the window we would like to put in. Although its a small house we're very lucky in that we have a lovely view. The new window will start from the sink up to the the roof and we had originally thought of oak. Seeing the drawings I think that there is too much frame and not enough view! Although the window will be nice the more important thing is what is behind it... and the light it gives.

So being completely ignorant on this I have approached a few companies selling aluminium frames in the belief that the frames would be thinner etc.

Do you guys have any advice for me? Definitely not after white shinny UPVC (we have enough of that already on our house!) or a product that tries to emulate wood.

Many thanks

Leo

Aluminium frames do permit thinner frames that PVC, and depending on size of window, probably thinner than wood.

It's really down to personal choice. We've got painted hardwood in the old part of the house and floor to ceiling anthracite gry alu frames in the new extension - we're happy with it, but it is personal choice.

We got them from http://www.greenwayscontemporary.co.uk/ and are happy with their service.

Im using Alot of accoya.... Cant go far wrong with it other than the cost, a properly finished and manufactured timber windows isnt cheap in any wood though tbh....
