fume extraction & air filtration

Hi all,

How do people get on with air filtration units when using them for fume extraction?

I understand you can buy charcoal filters for these things which can rid the air of odours. How well do these work, does anyone know?

What fumes do you want to get rid of? Activated charcoal filters have a limited life (they carry on absorbing stuff from the air unless you put them in a poly bag) which is a lot more practical for a face mask - and probably a lot cheaper!
