I can thoroughly recommend "Carpentry and Joinery 3" ( as recommended by others on the forum). It covers windows, doors, stairs...fantastic detail on different types of construction. Staggeringly good book.

If you want flash for your cash what about one of these http://www.iconbiometrics.co.uk/i3000.htm and there 5 level. As they say, keys and pin numbers can be forgotten, but you will always have your fingerprint with you.

Biometrics is the path most security companies are taking. But it may not suit a lovely oak door.

Mikec/Tombo.
I do Biometric access control for a living. It does work well, but you need to spend quite a bit to get something that is secure (£1k per door is normal). Its also quite difficult to install without there being wires everywhere. You need to plan the installation BEFORE you build the door and frame. You will need to hide a power supply, lock and the reader will need to be installed outside etc.

If you need some more info let me let me know and I'll help. PM if you prefer

Cheers
Lee.
