Hello gentlemen,
I am the owner of a Fox F22-565 planer/thicknesser, the knives of which I believe are now blunt, to the extent that today a piece jammed. I am in the process of planing 230mm wide oak pieces.
I have consulted the instruction manual, but this does not say whether or not these knives are for re-sharpening or replacement. It also does not explain how any replacement knives should be set in the cutter block (which has 4 knives).
So,
has anybody got one of these machines, and if so can you tell me: sharpening or replacement?
any suggestions as to how best to reset knives after re-sharpening/replacing?
is it best to replace with Fox knives or are there other, better, knives?
Thanks in anticipation.

Disposable blades are usually very thin 1mm ish and are flexible whereas resharpenable ones are usually about 3mm thick and stiff. If your machine didn't come with a knife setting jig which can be a simple stamping with a notch cut out then you can use the outfeed table as a guide with each blade in turn just kissing a straight edge laid across it and moving it maybe 3mm as you move the cutter block around. Disposable blades tend to be double sided aswell with two cutting edges. Regards Andy
