We have just started to sell calor gas at my garden centre, the rep says that you can get get a % back from the bottle up to 7 years after first purchased, so long as you have the original agreement taken out at the time.

It's a nonsense move to stop theft. The thieves will just sell them privately.

theres not much market for empty bottles (apart from a few people turning them into log burners)and scrappies wont take them which is why you see so many dumped - pikeys tend to nick em , use the gas then dump them when they are empty.

Can also be adapted to make something called a Mk 9 mortar too.

i thought that was oxygen cylinders - i would have thought calor was a bit short and fat to make a decent mortar

i agree about IED though , ever since those headcases tried to blow up glasgow airport with a jeep full of gas cylinders , our local suplier wont sell more than 2 at once without you filling in a form saying why you want them and giving your name.

presumably if you put purpose of use : terrorism , and sign your name abdul al abdullah they wont sell them to you - but that is only going to prevent the absolute cretin from procuring them - surely the average terr would just wait for the supplier to close then nick the lot...
