Hello

Got a bargain chip extractor off the bay and only until I picked it up today did I realise it's heft. I have a corner which would be perfect for it to go, but it will be most space efficient if I can fix the motor o either above or by the side of it.

tis similar if not the same as:

Branded NUTOOL.

I'm sure I can work out a way to hang the bag and filter on the wall, but how do I go about mounting the motor? and what orientation is best?

This is the corner I intend to shoe horn it into:

The is once I have found a home for all that timber :-k

From the motor's point of view wizer just lift the motor up keeping the armature in its present plane.
Turning the armature vertical CAN cause problems with end loading of the bearings.

Roy.

I'm closer to Simon and could make it in an hour for the wood.  While I'm there I'd give you a lift with the extractor onto the wall.

Well I had a sort out today and found a compromise, for now. I chucked out a load of scrappy wood, relocated some and left some in there. It really is shoe horned in:

When I get some time I will probably mount the bag unit on the wall and then place the motor underneath.

Tom,

There is still some room in my fire wood shed if you need to move scrap on somewhere.
That unit looks quite good, my blower for the cyclone is from a Nutool dust collector, so possible future development option there. 8)

That might be an option Dave. Most of the stuff that I am hanging on to will probably never get used! I'll save it up for the next bash.

Yes I am surprised with this extractor, I picked it up for £50 ( 8) ) off eBay and was expecting an old clapped out extractor. Turns out that it's nearly new (or at least kept that way) and runs like a dream. Very quiet (compared to me RSDE2) and loads of power for the P/T. I did find a large piece of sand paper inside the inlet, blocking the pipe

One day I will look into converting it to an extractor, but I don't have time or brain capacity at the moment.

Mr. wizer sir, I have a suggestion.

Take the entire machine and turn it upside down, remove the casters, and hang it from the ceiling through the caster holes. You need to flip the bag ring and bags back to the way they sit when on the floor so the air "swirl" pattern stays the same. That would get the motor out of your way.

If you were to break it down a little more, you could mount the bags up high in the corner and the fan/motor on the other side of the beam. That would leave you with enough room below the lower bag for a short barrel or box. With the end of the lower bag removed and clamped to the barrel/box it would fill and both bags just filter instead of loosing area as the lower bag fills. The system would breath easier and maintains suction and the fan/motor is lined up for an overhead pipe system when you are ready to add that. Just remember to not overfill the box.

Build a shelf ,put extractor on it,gives you room under it for storage, also helps with hoses running closer to machine height.

Wizer, I have had the SIP extractor for around 4 years, but I had trouble in the first instance because there is a baffle fitted just below fan blades.
I had to remove my bafle because it blocked flow, dont know whether it effects the model you have.

Malt: As of 8:34am this morning, the Jet P/T is still my favourite machine in the workshop. Things may change by this evening tho.....

DW: I havn't noticed a problem yet.

Its going to be a royal pain in the rear to change the bag with it so tightly shoe-horned in there. I have the same extractor about and I hate changing the bag on it.

The best tip I've seen for fitting a new bag is to temporarily stick it in place with rare Earth magnets, which leaves you with two free hands to fix the strap!
