Hi again Woden,
Here's a picture of my main bench which has two Record 52D vices fitted, one at the end and one at the front
Excuse the mess underneath it
You will see that I have several rows of dog holes fairly close together. If you arrange the dog holes like that I don't think there is a need for more than one dog in the vice - I've certainly never had the need for more than one.
