Hi i was just looking for some advice about finishing birch ply? I have had a search through old topics but none really answer my query as i want ideally a roller applied finish?

The wood in question is cladding a ceiling and a wall in a small downstairs toilet. Its just a toilet and sink so the only water may be the occasional splash, no showers etc.

My main priority is a clear non yellowing finish which ideally would be matt, certainly not looking for high gloss. In a perfect world i prefer the look of them unfinished but that obviously won't work past the first few days, I just mention it to highlight the look i am after.

I considered laquer to be the best bet but due to the size of the sheets and area to be covered there is no way i can spray them effectively with the very small hobby set up i have access too.

Ideally a polyurethane varnish would do especially with the possibility of splashes but i am very concerned it will darken the wood too much and perhaps yellow over time?

Does anyone have any advice?

Can a laquer be effectively applied to large 8x5 sheets with a roller?

Or can anyone recommend a varnish that will not darken the wood or yellow?

Your advice is much appreciated.
