Here as promised are the pictures of the shop counter I have been doing over the last few days. I say it is just about finished as there are some trims to fit on the inside edges and the window board to laminate. Anyway without further adoo here they are.

Then there is the messy bit that the customers don't see which requires the trims yet.

This is the first time I have tried laminating anything as big as this and have to say I think it will be the last! It is such a messy job and difficult with 8x4 sheets! I think next time I shall go with laminated panels and bu**er the cost. Luckily there is enough laminate left to finsih the window boards in after the customer managed to crack one of them lifting it onto the bench.
Well tomorrow I start a part kitchen fit and will return to finish the trims next week. I also have to find time to visit a couple of customers this weekend too to view and price up a couple more jobs. :D
Now there are even less hours in the day.

Looks great. Is all all MDF? Whats the timber looking trims and the darker strip on the front? Will you have to laminate the shelves on the inside too?

Are you full time working for yourself?

Good for you Mailee, you are becoming a legend in your own time :D

Rich.

Very smart, Mailee. :)

Is this the same job where you have to make dozens of tables and chairs?

Thanks guys much appreciated. No Nola the shelves will not be laminated. I have laminated the lower 'desktop' at the rear but the shelves will remain as plain MDF. The wood trims are Pine mouldings and the darker section on the front is laminate too. I am working for myself but only part time at the moment as I still have the other job. Once I have enough work I shall give up the other one. (Not long the way things are going either, had three more calls this week) No Olly, this is not the same job as the tables and chairs it is another one! Not heard back from that one yet. I am on to more mundane things this weekend as I have a couple of worktops to fit. I just know it will turn out more work than that though!

It sounds like it's starting out very well for you, despite everything that's splashed across the media at the moment. Best of luck with it all! :)

Hi Mailee,

Counters look good. I think you're right not to bother with laminating yourself in the future, just not worth the effort when ready made stuff is available. I have only laminated small pieces and didn't really enjoy that, I would hate the idea of doing so many large panels.

Best of luck in your venture,

regards

Brian

The counter looks good, I'm a little suprised there's no chinese man hiding around in the back of the photo's though.... I see you manged to get rid of him for a minute or two!

It's good to hear that you have got more work coming in, long may it continue for us all!

Mailee you deserve to do well there is no doubting your enthusiasm and hard work. looks like it's paying off too.
Well I hope it's paying, you haven't done it for a years supply chicken fried rice and crispy noodles have you?
