I've asked a couple of questions about bending ply, would like to share the finished result!
There used to be a fireplace with a curved hearth where the AV stuff now is, left a big gap in the carpet. So I made this plinth/box thing to fill the space and cover the cables and put stuff on!
So what I've learnt from doing this is, the curve needs to be made tighter than what you want to end up with! Also it warps as it dries. Oh well nothing a bit of brute force couldn't fix.
The hearth wasn't a nice curve, it was a funny shape - too late by the time I realised! So it doesn't fit the gap as well as I would have liked.
Once the basic shape and other cutting was done, I did most of the work balanced on the edge of an old pallet. No space. The job was balanced, not me. I'm never balanced...
I made vents in the ends since there's a lot of wall-warts under there. The mesh is from an old speaker. I sandwiched it under the last layer (sitting in a skinny rebate). Vent holes in the top to follow...
I underestimated the size of cutout I'd need for the cables. So the slot at the back is twice as long as in the photo!
The board I used was from an old piece of furniture so I had to do some small repairs. Could have been better, could have been worse.
