Hi There,
I am in the process of finishing an Iroko Planter approx 600mm by 600mm and 500mm deep. The base will be of composite material and will allow for drainage. I will fit nylon feet to lift it off the floor. It will be outside in the rain, south facing and be subject to damp soil inside and warm to hot sun outside. I have not yet decided on a finish but am thinking towards a good preservative rather than an actual oil or varnish.
Any suggestions?

regards
Mal

Easily applied Rustins Danish Oil looked after the iroko seats and center board case of my home-build sailing dinghy with an annual re-application. The inside of the CB case was coated with 2-part epoxy. After 4 years when sold it was still fine although the wood had darkened.

Might be OK for a planter?
