I know it isn't in the spirit of finding and making your own solutions, and no idea if the kit is common knowledge now, but this just appeared in my UKW ads and looks like it'd be a real boon to anyone making instructional videos without a camera person:

I'm assuming you could programme it to look at the workpiece, turn to you speaking (or whatever) and then back to workpiece at the push of a button. 850 Euro's a lot, but compared to the price of a half-decent DSLR and considering the functionality it adds, maybe not too much for serious video-ers?
(They have loads more interesting-looking kit, but that's going to be £££s!)
