It doesn't appear so, it still comes up as $285 if you add to basket. That is one expensive film!

Of course, it wasn't actually the film I was referring to, it just happened to be the first relevant hit on Google...

Cheers,

P.S. Neil, could be even worse if you counted in my posts from my previous incarnation
Yes, I thought I would be nice and not mention the extras

Well the service from Barry at the Chesterfield branch was excellent. I set up a trade account with them, ordered the saw etc, gave me them at the offer price even though it had ran out, said he would ring me on Monday to confirm if it was to be delivered on Tuesday, he rang Monday and delivered Tuesday, did not charge me for delivery.

Have not checked the guide rails yet,

Huh, back on topic. Never mind, here we go again-

Actually at the time I didn't need the help of a matchmaker being as I was young and even better looking than I am now.

When I went it was the late 1960's and the festival was less self-conscious than it is now, less folksy too. Every pub, bar and hotel had a band playing, some showbands, some rock and roll, even a few ceilidh bands. The floors were slippery with french chalk and spilt beer. Great craic. Prefer not to go back now as I don't expect I would like the 'progress' that's been made

If you are come over again for the music *, be sure to PM me and you can drop in!

Will do Neil - like the technique on the fiddle :) I play the flute myself, used to go to Miltown Malbay regularly for quite a few years

probably best John a lot can change in 35 years :) even in Ireland.

I stumbled across the Lisdoon thing by accident, saw all these signs up for Matchmaking this way etc. I had visions of people sitting around making swann vestas (I put it down to the amount of Guinness I was consuming at the time) so it was a bit of a surprise to find the place heaving at three in the afternoon, this was about a decade after you.

Have not checked the guide rails yet, Shocked

Do. ASAP. I had to send back parts of my CS70 4 times to get a complete perfect set. Although the thing itself is fine (no damage a year or so later after pretty hard use) the packaging is not good enough for the standard of couriers. (And this doesn't mean it will be OK if you pick it up from the store, one piece of the CS70, a very awkward 2.4 m heavy extrusion, was hand delivered by an embarassed Minden on the third try, but it had already been damaged on the courier journey from Germany to Minden). Lovely kit, but not capable of surviving being thrown in and out of vans and lorries without a care, at least in the packaging it is dispatched in. The stuff in Systainers should of course be OK.

Glad to say the rails are fine. Tried the saw today and WOW pure quality. Fantastic quality and a pleasure to use, the cutting quality on laminated boards is amazing.

I have one question, once on the rail there are 2 turn wheels on the side that i turned and it locked the saw on the rail, what are these for ? i can't see what i would use them for or are they to do something else ?

Thanks all

Are they for locking off the saw when you are making a plunge cut?

Cheers
Neil

The 'turn wheels' are cams which adjust the closeness of fit to the rail. The best way to adjust them is to loosen both of them til the saw moves easily, then tighten one til the saw is difficult to move, then back it off slightly, then adjust the other one.

Also worth talking to your local dealer - mine (Adkwik in Cambridge) offered me 20% off list price (and another 5% if I bought before end of June - my choice of date) which matches most of the web offers with local backup as well.

Hi

Been using the saw and guide this week loads and very impressed.

The only problem ive had is when i want to rip and join the 2 of 1400 rails together with the 2 joining bars.

Ive found that if you just join the 2 end edges dead in line by eye they are not straight when you cut, and when cutting it is curved very slightly in the middle which if its a joining edge like 2 meeting edges on wardrobe doors there is a gap top and bottom and touching along the middle.

Ive used a straight edge when joining the rails and it has improved it 60 % and shows on the 2 joining edges that they should not be put together dead in line if you get me there was a bigger gap at the join on one side of the rail.

Just wandered if others have found this ? and what they have found works?

The amount of ripping i will be doing it might be good to invest in a 2.7 rail just for ripping. I know John has one how much are they ? and where can you get them from ?

Jase,

You can order the 2.7m rail from anywhere, I think they all get sent from Minden in the end anyway.

I am surprised there is an inaccuracy in your two rail set-up. I reckon you should get your money back, Festool swears by its accuracy.

Having said that I got the 2.7m rail as well as the short one because in cutting 8/4 sheets one is always swapping btween cuts anyway.

Thanks Chris

To be honest i got the second rail for £12.50 so not that bothered and it will do until i but the 2700 rail. How much did you pay for yours ?

Im struggling to find them on the internet ?

You won't, you'll have to ask a Festool dealer who will order it from Minden's if you accept the price (which will be quite a lot). I can't tell you what mine cost because it was part of a deal (it was listed as free)

Hi all

Im just about to order a 3m rail to go with the saw. I asked Protrade who i have an accouint with to get me a price on the combination square for the rail. They rang and left a message quoting £50.11 plus VAT and said it was called a combination level. Does this sound right ?

Thanks

Jase
