I understand there's both a new and an old version of the Domino jointer. Does anyone know the key differences and how to recognise one from the other? Thanks.
There was apparently an infringement of a Mafell patent on the spring-loaded pins used for location, so Festool had to re-design this part of the tool. The new model uses hinged plastic wedges.
This is the only difference as far as I know. If you can get hold of the old model I would recommend that you do so - I'm sure Festool wouldn't have changed the design unless they had to and I'm very happy that I have the version with steel pins.
Thanks Neil, that's cleared it up. I just bought a Domino off Ebay, it's almost unused but didn't have a user manual. When I downloaded one it shows the plastic flappers but my Domino has the original metal pins.
