I have bought an opera DVD and would like to extract the audio track to mp3. I tried a demp of Chameleon but it told me that the DVD was encrypted. This could be true..I'm not an expert on DVDs..so where's the key to decrypt the DVD, for instance?

Is there any software out there that can extract the audio? I feel morally in the clear in wanting to do this since I've paid for the DVD and am not interested in the pretty pictures :?

DVDdecrypter is your friend.
Whether you feel morally in the clear is irrelevant isn't it in a question of legality though? It's odd really that fair use doesn't appear to apply to this sort of thing. You buy the disk to access the content so why should you be locked to the one type of media? Better stop the rant before it starts really and refer the honourable gent to the first line again.
Cheers Mike

A simpler way would be to use Easy Hi-Q Recorder, play the DVD on your computer, record the sound in "real time" (whatever that really means - I've never experienced unreal time!).

I upgraded to the full version, but the free download should do what you want it to.

Hi Ray, when they use the term "real time" it is a way of saying it is slow. At least compared to some recorders I have used in which the duplication speed can be varied. I think the one I used was at 2x to 10x. But it was a relatively inexpensive one.

Take care, Mike

Hi Ray...I'm a bit of an impatient old sod and hate tying up the computer for real-time stuff! Although I do use Total Recorder for recording off-air programmes/Listen Again from the Beeb...

totaly unhelpful, but I know how t do this, i've just bloody forgotton... if it comes to me i'll post again :?

Or you can download a small piece of software called DVD43 and that will give the encryption the boot :)
You will also get a small smiley face in your toolbar for it :)
