Exterior undercoat/primer recommendations

Hi All

Can anyone recommend me a decent primer/undercoat for a set of softwood garage doors I’m making? They won’t be fully exposed to the elements as they are set back about a foot or so inside the opening.

I’m guessing solvent based is the best option? I’m also did a search on here and found some recommendations for anluminium primer, which l’d never even heard of!! Are there any particular brands that you’d recommend?

Tikurilla Otex the original oil based one not the aqua one. Best primer/ undercoat I have found.
Aluminium primer is horrible to paint with.

Its white but you can tint it.

Zinsser range of paint is also worth considering as is bedec multi surface paint . I did an outside plastic soil stack ruined by the builders . A year later it looks tha same as when I painted it .
