There's a combi machine on eBay made by ESY and the vendor says he thinks it's licensed by SCM. Anybody know ESY? Particularly concerned whether quality can be regarded as same as SCM.

Never heard of ESY but he could be right.

Esy srl was set up in 2003 in Brescello in Italy.
They have no website but definitely woodworking. A few online searches, in Italian, haven't thrown up any actual machines.
Esy is most probably a corruption of 'easy". If you asked an Italian to spell easy they would write "esy".

I have a mini max planer, having looked at the ebay listing the Esy does look very similar in finish.

You need to think of aftermarket care and support, if it is obscure then getting problems resolved and spares could be a big problem in the future.
