I like this JT - the chunky look appeals to me also. I'm not particularly interested in getting something wafer thin just to prove how clever I am  Not sure what my views are on the foot - though I did a box yesterday with a curved bottom and had the devil's own job getting it to sit properly. Personally, I would have made it larger but left it on :?

That profile shot made my mind up JT, works well with that piece of wood, might have been tempted for a little undercut on the inner rim, just enough for a shadow, but that is just a personal preference option that is unnecessary when looking at the piece in the flesh.

Thanks for the replies :D

Chas, I normally make a steep cut rather than an undercut where the rim transitions into the 'bowl' area but with the big/tall curved rim I thought it might look odd, so i just stuck with the smooth inside curve and made sure the 'corner' between the two stayed nice and crisp, which as an unforseen bonus seems to catch the light in a nice way as can be seen in the first pic.
