I brought a few books at the woodworking show at Detling earlier in the year. One of them was "Carving Wooden Santas Elves and Gnomes".
Thought I would have a go at one of them.

The bit I was not looking forward to was the painting, he stands 6 3/4" tall and is carved from tulip wood.


He looks a bit shiny as I had just sprayed him in the photo's.

C & C Welcome as this is a first of this type of subject but not my first carving.



 
I bet he is hot in that beard. No wonder his cheeks are red. Poor sod.

A very nice carving.

My carving skills extend to sharpening a pencil with a chisel.
 
Very nicely done despite the season to be sweaty.

Is it just me or does he remind anyone else of the exotic lady from Total Recall from certain angles.
