I'm interested in the compromise between quality and speed i.e fast but good enough.
Sometimes perfectionism can just look over-worked and it does take longer.
Ironically if the work is too well done it can look machine made rather than hand. ‘old’ dovetails were often unevenly spaced and inconsistent angles.

Ignore button pressed!
A most un-childish response. My apologies for my immaturity in asking you to back up your claims with any evidence whatsoever. Thank you for your thorough explanation--with photos--of your claim,
"Do them flat on the bench with 2 chisel chops - second one dead on the line and slightly undercut.
Turn it over and ditto.
No paring."

You are absolutely correct that my tone became sarcastic when you repeatedly refused to answer a simple question (unlike at least one other notable individual. . .)

What's that quote? Something about wrestling with a pig?

Not that I haven't been guilty of wrestling with pigs...
In such a situation, one must always ask oneself: am I the wrestler or the pig? Being too certain of the answer says one is most likely the pig. Being uncertain, one may be either.
