Double Decker Jigsaw Puzzle

Has anyone made these ?
How did he cut the lower pieces ?
2.5 inches square by 1 inch thick

I would like to try a 6 piecer at about 4 by 5 by ¾ inches

Seen it done on Bandsaw but never that thick( 21/2 ) on a Scroll saw. , suppose it is possible the Manufacturer of my Hawk say it can cut up to 25/8 but I've never cut more than 2 inches

I wonder if it was done with an 1/8" bandsaw blade? The fit does look a bit loose. Just wondering though, I have no idea how small a curve can be cut with a narrow bandsaw blade.

Each piece is hand cut -- on the scroll-saw ?

Looks as if he cuts each piece twice or could it be magic??

He cut the ones on the flat and then turned them on their side and cut again

possibly cut them along the main face first, then when there are 3 strips , cut each one along the long end.

so essentially you will need (to complete the one shown)to make each of the 9 pieces, and then fit these to make the final square.

same as Nadnerb said really, but there may be planning needed, do you cut 3 strips, then the middle so layer, then across each strip to make 3, or do you cut them all out, then the middle.....

interesting though, and as an aside i did a 'squirrel' puzzle the other day and amazed me how long it takes people to figure it out!

Being used to 'pushing', I reckon it would take some getting used to. That's why my attempts with a spiral blade still only work in one direction. :-D

Wouldn't spiral blades be far to wide for that? I think he is just very skilful, but I don't think I will try it just yet.
