i'm still always suprised how many people get caught up in bidding frenzies on eBay

The bidder paid £30 more than shop price.

Whoever won the auction, paid more than a brand new one

True, but people often pay more second hand for an item, than they can be obtained brand new if the "manufacturer" of the S/H item is a premium brand. If the model shown is a jet (i know, isn't desperately obvious is it), and presuming its the smaller one in the Jet range, it costs £230 new. That makes the auction look a little more reasonable. Why would someone pay that much for a Jet - perhaps they are quieter, or they got carried away. I thinkif its been in a commercial shop for a year - that means its probably been running constantly., and therefore that should be reflected int he price more.

That price has to have VAT on top too  , I get the feeling that some might have missed that #-o

If you read the description on the eBay item, you will see that Vat will have to paid on the closing price, add that to a £35.00 delivery charge and the total comes to £200.92 by my reckoning.

The new one costs £149 plus delivery (thats including Vat). I cannot see delivery costing £50 for an item weighing 35Kg
