I was working today when the guy from the next house (mansion) came round to ask if I'd take a look at his house, it's an old vicarage but it's massive and old. The windows have seen better days and there's lots of them. Most windows are the same size down stairs and the up stairs are different but all roughly the same size.
I can fit windows but I'm not up to making them as they're mainly sash.

I'm going to take a few photo's and take a few measurements...

Does anyone fancy quoting? Let me know..

If only I had my own shop...... i'd take it on, im within a few miles of you!

Why not do a Brad - buy them in and fit them for the chap! Even if you get a quote from the people you work for on a day to day basis?

Windows can be shipped anywhere. It is only a matter of them being measured properly and nailing down the specs before building. There are plenty of people on this site that could build them and ship them and you could install them. I could build them if i wasn't so busy. I'm not available for the next 4 months and am already getting bookings in advance. But not everyone is as busy.

Are they traditional sashes or modern double glazed ones?

I cant do fitting because i'm not self employed nor fensa registered. And I dont work for the window company anymore.... and also wouldn't want to recommend them now, after the way they were with me when i told them i was moving on.

Okay well, how would i take on a job like this (not offering to do it) and run it thru the tax man, legally? wouldn't i need Public Liability Insurance ect.....?

Haha, i only do out of hours work for friends. One day when maybe i've got my own workshop ill be able to take on jobs.... for now i'm just still on the learning curve, at my 2nd workshop now, doing furniture/ shopfitting/ kitchens.
