Hi all
I notice a few people sticking cellotape over their patterns as well as spray adhesive which I gather also acts as a lubricant for the blade. I should maybe try it as I wonder if it makes that much difference?. I`ve just acquired some Olsen PGT blades which seem to last longer. I`m still not sure if my blades are tight enough, they seem to cut ok and no longer wander but I haven`t had one break yet unless I`m just being too careful with them :?: :?: I`m also still using the same blade after 4 hrs cutting gear wheels , I`m not a tight git honest  Quite getting into this scrolling lark
Regards
Steve
still learning.....

hi steve
i always use sellotape over my patterns, never cut one without it on so dont know if it would cut more erratic or not due to heat build up.

As a newbie to the forum I am keen to learn. I have noticed the idea of using cellotape, as well as adhesive, from which comes my query, if you will all be so good as to humour me ?

Cellotape is a form of plastic ?(the tape itself) also as we all know it has an adhesive on it ? surely between the plastic and the adhesive, it is more likely to cause sticking / binding problems, (well I did say humour me lol) however small they may be. So where does this lubricating idea come from, is it a proven fact, or is it a widely accepted urban (scroll sawing) myth ?
Well like my daddy always said "you don't learn if you don't ask"

I see you've started a new thread which is just on the topic of tape lubrication, Pete. Thanks - it's good to avoid going off-topic if possible :) .

The new thread is here.
