DIY edge belt sander

So I have tried making my own rollers but it is defeating me. Two questions:

1. Can anyone make a set for me on their lathe?
Length = 180mm
Diameter = 71 (crowned)

2. Where can I get crowned rollers...or just rollers? Googling just comes up with American sites or long stainless steel conveyor rollers.

I also have plans to build an edge sander of some description one day, not to mention a decent sized bandsaw and possibly a 12 inch planer. I've already collected a few induction motors and to me using one of those over something like a treadmill motor just seems easier: they're readily available second hand for not a lot of money, connect an NVR switch and job done.

Im collecting another treadmill tomorrow which I found for free on marketplace. Going to make a drum sander next.

So I ended up stripping the roller from a treadmill, cut it to size, turned it down, welded it, ground it, and fitted. Works perfectly.

Just got to make a dust collection thingy on the end and it's finished.

Whenever I’ve made end grain cutting boards I have carefully and relatively slowly put them across the planer, then through the thicknesser, I think you’re worrying about nothing that it will destroy your blades, they are made to cut wood after all. Saves all that dust. Or you could just plane them by hand, wouldn’t take long. Ian
