I’ve been using Makita for a long time, just what my first proper battery tool was and stayed with them. You get a 3 year warranty if you register on line not that I have ever used it, but have heard they are quite good. I’m a DIY only but with 2 grown up children so spend a lot of time doing work for them. We have gone cordless in the garden as well and when for Makita as it’s the same batteries. If I was starting now, I would look at Milwaukee first, but been very happy with makita and the range of tools is massive.
Just for balance DeWalt and Bosch also offer 3 year warranties if registered on line. I'd be surprised if any of the other big names didn't do so too, but I don't have any of those so can't confirm.
