Danish oil on bathroom door? & plough plane for adjusting?

Hi,

I'm currently fitting some reclaimed panel doors. These will be finished with danish oil. My question is - is 3 or 4 coats of this suitable for the inside (i.e. bathroom side) of the bathroom door? It's described on the tin as being a waterproof finish, but wondered if you esteemed lot would recommend a clear varnish instead, for that particular surface?

Also, some, but not all, of my door frames have fixed rebates. Is it a plough plane that one would use to adjust these where necessary? The house is 70-odd years old, so there's been slight movement (or perhaps just a shoddy original job) on some.

Danish oil should be fine - it's a mixture of oil and varnish.
To adjust rebates you need (surprise!) a rebate plane. An old wooden one will be fine and can be easily found on eBay, at a car boot etc. Something like this:

Alternatively, a chisel for big adjustments, and some sandpaper round a block of wood for finer work.

Also, take a close look at the stops - if they are "planted" (ie nailed on) you can remove them and reposition them to suit the warped doors.

Thanks - I should really have figured out the plane for myself - doh!!

I've been doing the ones with the pinned-on stops first. Nice and simple, just makes a mess of the paint work.
