Main motor is huge and weighs a ton, there is no system to keep tension on the belt, just it's own weight is enough!

That's a pretty standard technique on static systems, goes a bit wrong under dynamic conditions though...

Thanks for posting the photos of that. I love looking at big old iron - proper engineering. No room for it myself, but lovely to see :D

Finally after all these months had some time to get the wiring finished up properly.

You have got to admire the ruggednes of these old iron machines. The previous owner used a large crowbar under the in/outfeed table to lift the machine up (guessing at least 400kg) put it on small round bar, then roll it 1 mtr, and repeat this process over and over to move it 30+ mtrs to get it out of his workshop. Then when we we're loading the thing on a trailer with a forklift truck, it tipped over just when it came above the trailer, landing on one of the pulleys on the motor!

But have checked everything and all is still perfectly aligned! I just love old iron!

One thing I have learned tough is to wax/oil the tables, I was testing the thicknesser and the wood didn't go through all the way, got stuck half way, I played around with the spring tension of the rollers nearly took the entire thing apart but in the end a couple of drops of camelia oil on the tables and it wen't through without problem!

Anyway very happy with my old iron machine and wouldn't change it for the world for one of those newfangled amulimium plasticy machines :p
