Never been...is it worth the hassle to drive up from deepest Wiltshire? - Rob

Nope

Now Now Tom

That's not the spirit :?

All them nice shiny tools and machines , Festool

Bound to be able to beat a deal out of someone

and its a day out looking for UK Woodworking badges :p :p

Festool won't be there. It's mainly hand power tools with Record Power machinery. It's good for the odd deal but there's very few in the way of demo's. I think they aim it at the tradesman rather than the hobbiest. If I wasn't in hospital I'd have gone but only because it's a short hop on the train on my way home from work.

Nope from me too, I might go anyway but the two times I have been there have been no bargains. The stuff is sometimes dearer like the Makita stand they were selling the Makita radios for £80 which you can get for £60ish in most places :x

I only go because I live near Kempton Park

The better one is at Sandown park run by Pro builder mag I have not been but it must be better as FESTOOL are there :D its a pain though as its on in the week and I cannot justify a day off just to look at tools.

Rob

I'm going up as have some spare folding burning a hole my pocket (plan to get the veritas jack while i'm there - hopefully with a bit of "show" discount). So if you don't want to drive all the way from Salisbury, split the journey via Corsham and I'll drive up from here.

on my list:

Plane

Triton router

Router table insert plate

and some stuff that i don't know that I need - Yet

I went last year, mostly to take a closer look at the (then) new plunge saws from DeWalt and Makita. I went years ago when I first set up and picked up a very good deal on an Electra Beckum SCMS; these days as Chippy1970 says, it seems to be mostly companies discounting their list prices to slightly above what you can buy stuff for online elsewhere, and expecting joe public to jump right in because they call them 'show specials' :?

Don't know about anyone else, but it's been a bit of a funny year tool-wise for me; there's nothing much I need, and there hasn't really been anything that's sparked my interest enough to make the effort to search it out.

But yes, if D&M ever became a Festool dealer it would make the trip much more worthwhile :)

Cheers, Pete.

I'm getting a shiny new stainless steel (or possibly ceramic) right hip joint on November 3rd., so I shan't be there. :)

Good luck with the op Ray, we will wave the usual request for work in progress pictures on this one. :D
