Hi all
Picked up one of these swan necked chisels from our club the other night and wondering how to use it?. It seems like the blade is on the underneath when using it facing upwards but not sure if this is right as the instructions are a bit faded anyone got one of these and could advise and also how to sharpen the blade too please?
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve.

You are correct in saying the blade hangs underneath. It is positioned so as the cutting edge is just showing out from under the rounded end of the shaft. You generally need to experiment to where it should be, and how much gap, to suit your way of working.

Sharpening is done using a diamond hone, anything rougher will wear the cutting tip away too quickly.

Cheers for that Tam
It does seem to bend the wrong way when you first look at it, you think the blade should be on top !!.

Thanks again
Steve
