My small shed needs a new roof as the felt has gone and the roof is wet
I have covered it with a tarp to try and start drying it but due to the post weather it's taking ages .
One idea I have is to cover it in place then then cover in Osb 3 also play that then felt then use a heater to dry from the inside as as long as it lasts until late I can then finish my workshop roof .
The an then is to extend the wooden shed .
Can any one see any major bobos in my plan

Hi Gerry

If I understand you correctly, are you planning to board over the existing roof felt (I assume it is felt) with OSB3 and then covering this with new felt?

If this were my shed, I would be tempted not the trap moisture between the old roof and the new OSB3. I would strip off the old felt and leave it open for a day or two in the sun to dry out. Put the tarp back on each night.

I appreciate that the weather has been unreliable, but you only need a couple of days’ sunshine to dry it off. I would then cover it in OSB3 and felt it over. I know it a shed but I would do at least two, or better still three layers of felt.

The first layer of underfelt only needs nailing on, so you then have a reasonably watertight roof.

Regards

If your not to worried about the look I would whack some corrugated steel over the top.

I am going to rip the remaing felt off hoping the weather will get better so it drys it out more before fitting the osb not in the position to renew roof just need a dry shed to store kit while I do the workshop roof and cladding .
One of the problems is trying to reclaim garden as well as it is a jungle.

You can do a fairly permanent job with steel box profile sheets. They come ready painted or ready plastic coated (bit dearer) but that would solve the issue of felt once and for all. I would keep the existing boarded roof, minus the felt, to cut down condensation from the steel.
As has been said, remove felt to alliw existing boards to dy out first.

Been out today to check it after recovering it during 5he week it has dried a lot more so if the weather settles I think it will dry so ready for Osb and felt .I will then have a area to work in to do all the wood work for the workshop fingers crossed weather settles for a while .
