:)

I'm away from my office today on a client site, waiting all day long for them to give me the info I need to get the job started. I've had those pictures saved up for a few weeks but really didn't want to get involved.

Really, please... Make it all go away.

My reason for posting the thread was because I am really ignorant of why a forum would be started off by someone unless it was altruistic or financial gain.
I used to pay a half yearly sub around £5 to a train simulator site some years ago, it was quite good value, because the forum had a stock of simulated railway equipment that was put in by members and was available to those who had subscribed.
Advice from members was available without subs being paid.

Nobody got struck off and no members took offence at any remarks.
In fact one member created a rival to the microsoft train simulator freely to the subscribed members, something like P4, a true scale.

I can't see any other reason for starting a forum, altruism or profit pretty much cover it.

Either a hobby / some kind of pursuit that someone wants to share with like minded types or a product support forum.

Cheers Mike

I don't know the answer to this question. :?
I'm just glad this forum was started.

I started a couple of groups/forums about Northern Soul on yahoo and msn, purely because i wanted to collect the music and speak to like minded people, the group and its members helped me to collect 20,000 mp3's of mostly unheard tracks from the 1960's, it also got me out and about to different venues all over the country.
The yahoo group/forum is still going today, although I am the owner I hardly ever use it now.
In fact I nearly started a group about woodwork, then I found this site.

So I suppose the answer is that if you want to know something you will go to great lengths to learn or to find the information you seek.
