I use a VB36 myself and would think carefully about a blank this size, the fixing method, the chuck capacities and strengths, even with the VB`s monumental strength, MT3 tapers, unique bayonet fittings and my own abilities this is not a simple task to carry out safely. By all means cut and store the wood I would simply cut the logs to around 2` lengths and slice those down the middle, this will give enough wood foe a decent nest of bowls and easier to handle, expect some wastage though due to splitting.
