That is very nice, I'm a newbie and no nothing about finishing, why is wire wool a no no with Oak? I ask because I am planing to make SWMBO an Oak table.

You can leave behind very minutes metal strands in he wood and these will eventually will creat an unpleaent reaction and stain the wood. Hence why I went over with a magnet to get them all out.
