I doubt they'll be looking to harvest phone details. They look like a respectable bunch, and unless you've agreed for them to share your details, they'll be in breach of the Data Protection Act - doesn't seem their style, TBH.
Gotta say though, I hope their tool and wood knowledge is better than their web design - Yikes!!
I agree with everything you say, and it would be prohibitively expensive for them to keep phoning customers to prompt further sales, so why do they want it ? If it is to converse with the winner to get an address etc then email is better and more accurate.
I am sure they are perfectly respectable people but I now feel wary of anyone who wants my phone number
I feel the same re giving out my phone number - it's not so much the calls, it's the way the callers, (who I accept are probably on a pittance and are only doing their job), keep coming up with new ways to pretend they or their firm are not selling - Survey, general enquiry, satisfaction / service call, no-win-no-fee, blah, blah, blah.... At least with junk mail (e- or otherwise), you can scan, then bin. The time wasted on unsolicited calls is a real b@@@ ache.
I now use one of several, including;
"Of course I'd love to talk about PPI / Insurance / my 'accident' / (insert ad infinitum), but before we do, let's talk about Jesus for half an hour"
Gibberish, polish-sounding pigeon English is pretty effective.
Generally talking in a ridiculous voice or answering their questions with a completely un-related response
None subject to copyright, so feel free to use them as you wish. (Just PM me you phone number so I can verify you are a valid mug)
Maybe we should start a thread for unsolicited call responses - if only just to keep the humour alive - what d'ya reckon?
