Ok,

So started a clock the other day, got this far aslt night,

Still to make a foot of some kind, was thinking something like a sin-wave shaped base ( a shallow curved "m" ) for it to sit on rather than a standard base and column.?

Someone please suggest

Ta

Laurence

That looks really good Loz :D
How about a triangle shape with a flat on the top to take the clock :?

I made a mess of some of the glue joints, all was a perfect fit when freshly cut, some seems to have shrunk !

That certainly would be different, mabe out of the two same woods also ?

I envisage a small snag :-k
If it rolls an inch or two either way you won't know what the time is. :-s 8-[

I'd do with the 'trapezoidal' flat-top, when viewed on elevation,
perhaps with a step in it, although that may be too 'busy'.

Sorry - Slow today - :?:

Sorry its not 'draughtsman quality' !

I can't work with these inacuracies man !

Ah i see what you mean, i feel stupid now. Its a topless cone ...

Might be nice, in the matching oak. I like the step.

I was think this, but not sure of i could even turn it

was going to chuck at the tenon at 1 first and turn the top, then cat in a shallow recess at 2 and then do the underside.

Thats not fair.. you must have a tech'y drawing O grade :(

I like your idea !
Would you do it like Bobham's Winged Bowl, out of a stick ? .. that'd look brilliant, I think !
Be a bit tricky, but could be done !
I like that idea !

Yep just like bobs winged bowl, but with no bowl ! - or erm lid.

I'm going to give it a go over the weekend.

Thanks the input !

Waste timber is all over the place. In just over 2 years of turning I have bought about 6 blanks. The trick is not so much to look for wood to turn but to look for things to turn with the wood available.

Pete, what I ment was I dont have waste timber I use every little bit even if it neans bandsaw offcuts to the neighbour for her fire, if and when I see her!!REgards Boysie
