Hi,

could anyone give me some advice.

I want to make some lenths of MDF, 24 inches long by 4 inches wide.

Ive got a tablesaw, its quite accurate but the finish on the edges are sometimes a bit rough, probobly the blade, so I was thinking of squaring up and cleaning the edges on the router table.

Is there an easy way, and more to the point a safe way to to this.

I'm abit worried about kickback.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Seems like an OK idea. Fingerboards will prevent any kickback but you really only want to be taking a few mm off each one so get it almost there with the table saw.

Also use some dust extraction and wear a mask.

Don't dwell in any place too long as it will burn.

Good luck

Mick

We discussed this some time ago Phil and yes it can be done. Niki covered it very well in the Jig section I believe.

Roy.

Phil, its fairly easy if you have a split fence on the router table. Set both sides and the cutter level with a straight edge. Set the outfeed fence 1-2mm forward of the infeed fence. This will take off 1-2mm depending on how far you set it out. If you don't have a split fence stick card or a veneer to the outfeed fence.
