Cleaning hand brushes

Greetings.
Just cleaning and polishing a grandfather clock that was in need of a good revival and polish, I have been using Black Bison paste wax and am getting a good result.
What would you gents advise for cleaning the hand brushes I am using as the wax paste seems to stick to the brushes and I obviously want to clean them when I have finished the clock.

You'd be best cleaning them with white spirit, although messy it should do the trick.

I like to use biological washing powder and hot water, it takes longer but is kinder on the bristles.

Yep, for our brushes we recommend warm soapy water and whilst I don't know which ones you're using I'd suspect the same advice applies.

What I use is a mixture of a small amount of white spirit mixed in with an equal quantity of washing-up detergent (makes a nice gooey mess) and then finish with neat Fairy - Rob

white spirit /turps sub and then green soap , rinse in luke warm water, and if paint / polish brush wrap in newspaper to shape required and store in a dry location.

Thanks gents.
They are actually shoe type brushes as opposed to paint brushes.
The warm water and fairy worked on all but one, the bristles fell out!!
teach me to buy cheap...
B.T.W. does anyone know of any stiff brushes similar to tooth brushes I could use to get dirt out of corners etc on a clock, the grandfather looks great when waxed but the dirt accumulates in corners and I don't want to use cotton buds or tooth picks to get it out.
