I think you will find that Citric Acid is supplied in powder or crystal form rather than liquid. Most brewers supply companies should be able to get it or even your local chemist.
Something along these line:

Hope this of some help and let us know how you get on with it please

Thanks for that, Tony. I can drop in to Chessington on my way home from work - I'll let you know how it works.

Now - what concentration?

Seems to be different opinions on concentration. One I thought reasonable 1 tablespoon citric per 1-1.5 litre water. Another claimed 1 citric to 10 water (sounds a little too strong to me).

I do not know this for a fact but assume that there will be a slight etching effect due to the acid therefore I think I would go for the lower concentration and keep a close eye on things. I also suspect that a stronger brew would not necessarily improve rust removal but just waste the acid.

One more thought - I wonder if the lemon juice sold in bottles in supermarkets would work.

I went to a local hardware store and asked for some Citric Acid, the lady behind the counter looked concerned and said she needed to go and ask somebody. She re-appeared with the manager who wanted to know what it was needed for and said they were not allowed to stock it.

They reacted like I was trying to buy some to make a bomb or something, very odd indeed!

I used to purchase citric acid from the chemist but then the nanny state took over the establishment - I was told it was used by drug addicts so ordinary folk cant get hold of it now!

The last lot came from an Indian food shop, 100g for 69pence, no questions asked.

I got mine from ebay. Used it quite strong, about a tablespoon in a quarter litre. And much quicker if you use boiling water. My cabinet scrapers were done in half an hour. Beware - use rubber gloves to clean them off under the running tap - the residue is black and stains. I used a green scourer to clean it off. No pitting that I could see.
The you will need some camellia oil to protect them ........

Yup eBay has loads of sellers mainly Home brew kit suppliers, just search and choice the cheapest with the best feedback rating.

I've used Homebrewsuppplies but there are many
