As my current chuck only does expansion 1 3/4", 2" and 3 1/2" I've discovered its a pain to do smaller work with :?

Trying to decide between these two chucks, there the only ones I can find that can change the threads and fit my 20mm x 2mm spindle size (Except the axi Evo but its too expensive)

Has anyone had experiences of these two chucks and could provide any insight ? I'm leaning towards the Record at the moment as its £25 cheaper (which I would put towards the 100mm jaws) and comes with two sets of jaws with a 5 year warranty.

:)

The Versachuck from The Toolpost has a backplate option that will take the Sorby Patriot adaptors for odd ball threads.

Don't know if this is financially any advantage but it does mean that regular sized backplates up to 33mm or older 1-1/2" are available should you move on to another machine. Might give more flexibility than just Sorby adaptors alone.

The Vesachuck does also have the advantage of carriers available for a whole variety of accessory jaw brands should you want something obscure from a different brand retailer.
As I say I have not done a cost listing of the options but it's worth a look, cheapest is not always the best long term.

Thanks will have a look, they dont do the 20mm x 2mm but have blanks so could get one cut :)
But they do a backplate that takes a Sorby adaptor purchasing of which might be cheaper than having a blank backplate machined.

There would no doubt be a better prospect of selling the sorby capable backplate than a dedicated 20mm at a later date.

There was a similar discussion a short while ago, may be worth a read:

Not sure where you've looked for the SC4, but Yandles are doing it for £125, complete with woodworm screw, standard jaws, pin jaws and insert. Free postage also.
