Just received this am my latest ebay lot....a pair of Chisels - unhandled.

NewChisels.jpg

As you can see, they're pretty big - the wider one (22mm) is 10 1/4" long, the smaller is 9 3/"4"

Anyone got or seen similar?.......I'd like to think they were Paring Chisels - but there's absolutely no tapering of the blade width. I've sharpened one and it seems to take and keep a good edge.

Unfortunately no makers marks.

Hi,
Generally speaking IMHO, socketed means quality! Nice haul, the trick is now not to let them fester in a drawer somewhere for ages, - make the handles!
Enjoy!
Regards,
Martin
Who has one or two like those lying around - ....festering!

Got one and thus seen, yep. Chisel terminology is a minefield, but based on British terminology I consider mine a socket firmer.

Come again? Tapering of the blade width? I'm at a loss.

Cheers, Alf

Paring chisels aren't necessarily bevelled, though, if that is what was meant.

Well these look very much like them

Come on then......I want to know at least......was it a steal or was it a small motgage? I'm guessing the former and this is a bit of a gloat?

Chris.
