Hey All

I’m looking into changing my metal frame cladded up and over garage door to something more secure. I don’t have much experience in this area and was wondering what I should look out for in particular to security, brands, quality etc. I’m located in Hampshire.

Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Raf

I changed two metal up and over metal doors to roller doors. I did consider the sectional up and over doors but they do take up a lot of internal ceiling space when open and like the old doors would shade some of the lights when open. The sectional doors have better insulation than the roller doors which are slightly better than the old metal ones but the inside is warm when the sun is on them as they are quite thin.

The roller doors I got have anti jacking built in to stop them being jacked open. They also have an alarm contact that can set off an alarm if jacking is attempted. I have no idea if these work.

There do appear to be lots of companies out there doing doors at a variety of prices and some appear to subcontract installation so I think you need to shop around locally.

Thank you @HappyHacker. Anti jack and alarm - got it. I’ve found a local business that’s yet to quote but indicated it will be around 1600 for my single garage door. Not sure if this is too much. I’ll get more quotes and compare.
